As a pastor I have always understood the value of the internet in supporting the mission of the Church. I will never forget the feeling when my first worship service was streamed live over the net. I would imagine it may have been the same feeling when Alexander Graham Bell said, "Watson, come here; I want you" as being the first complete sentence ever transmitted. As a pioneer in offering live streaming audio/video of our worship, we were featured on ABC's "Good Morning America" as part of the discussion concerning the impact of the internet on everyday life.

Since then my church has always had a web presence but we have learned some difficult realities along the way. I have seen a pattern emerge among a typical church trying to maintain a Web site. First, there is much time, effort and commitment that goes into the initial development of the site, but it only takes a few months for that site to become outdated, since it is nearly impossible to keep relevant. Second, I have learned that the nature of a visitor to a Web site is unforgiving. You have one chance to prove to that visitor that your Web site is worth coming back to visit. If it is outdated, you have lost that future click. Along comes Wyes Solutions!

After 10 years of failures in trying to offer a viable Web site for my local church, I have discovered that the Church Communicator by Wyse Solutions is the answer. The initial development of the site was extremely easy and Wyse Solutions was always available to provide whatever support I needed to get it off the ground. The gem of Church Communicator is the ease of keeping the site updated and relevant. For the first time, I have been able to train individual ministry leaders to keep their portion of the site up-to-date (of which they can do from their home computer!).

It is so easy that we can make major alterations to any page and add information literally within seconds. For example, our Youth Pastor and wife are expecting their first child. The whole congregation is so excited about this important event in the life of our church family. To keep them informed, we have added a "Baby Watch" to our home page. This module took minutes to add and can be updated in seconds. The congregation knows that they can check our home page for up-to-the-minute information on the delivery of the child. This flexibility is what keeps our visitors returning regularly. And all of this is without a costly, professional "webmaster." Church Communicator is inexpensive, provides great support, enables flexibility and relevance, and is easy to use...I know this may sound like a paid endorsement (hahaha) but it really is just what comes from my heart and experience with Church Communicator!

Everyone LOVES our new site, and I get many favorable comments on it each week. Just the fact that people can go to the Web site and access the parish calendar (imagine!), or find out schedule changes without having to call the parish office is a real asset. We have enjoyed our association with Wyse Solutions, always prompt in answering any questions we may have. We are still learning how to use our Web site to best advantage. I would add that the best thing about the site is the ease of accessibility for multiple users. Here are a few ways to say the same thing and you may tweak them how ever you want. The program makes it easy for several people to add to the site and share the responsibility.
